Day Thirty-nine

  1. The Fourth of July.  It’s passed now, but it’s still my very favorite holiday and the happy effects linger.
  2. Having the money (sort of) to afford an upgrade to first class on my trip to Nashville.  It’s not that different and probably not worth it on a relatively short trip like this, but the flight attedants are nicer to you.
  3. The cows who produced the milk I drank with my coffee this morning and the chickens who laid the eggs I ate and especially the pig who died for my strip of bacon.  I hope their suffering was not great but I’m afraid it was.  Lokah samasta sukhino bavantu.
  4. The warmth of the sunshine coming through the airplane window.  We’re descending through clouds now and it’s gradually fading – which makes me appreciate it more.
  5. My glasses.

Many thanks,

Me
