Day Seventy-six

  1. The rain today.  I was out in it visiting Zev and then doing the Upper West Side walking tour from my tour guide study book.
  2. David N, with whom I can talk about anything, including the difficult things I discuss with Amy.
  3. The cucumber and melon salad at Hearth, where we had dinner.
  4. The 1880 photograph of the Central Park ice skaters with the Dakota in the background.  I daydreamed gazing into it today, wondering what the two men in the middle were discussing, what the kid at the bottom was thinking, what the two men in the bottom corner were doing.  I wondered if I would have been friends with any of them and wondered to what degree I would be able to communicate with them.
  5. The Imperial Court, which is still standing and apparently a much improved hotel from my days there in 1994.  I have not been as deeply, terribly heartbroken or afraid, neither before since, than I was when I lived there.  Why I would be grateful for it I don’t know.  Maybe just having visited it today and seeing that we are both much improved.

Many thanks,

Me
