1. The cortizone shot in my foot, not just because it fixed the plantar fasciitis, but because it hurt like Hell:  it deepened my empathy for the people of the world being tortured right now, experiencing that level pain not just for thirty seconds and not at the hands of someone trying to help them.  I came home and sent $50 to Amnesty International.
2. The financial wherewithal to have $50 to send to Amnesty International.
