Day One Hundred Twenty-two

  1. A falafel sandwich in the sun on the steps of the Met.
  2. Hieronymus Bosch, whom I’ve loved bed since I was a kid.
  3. “Aristotle with a Bust of Homer”:  Aristotle’s far away, meditative gaze, which I’d never seen until just now.  And next to it, “Herman Doomer” and his impossibly detailed beard.  And, a couple of rooms further, the 1660 self-portrait of Rembrant himself.
  4. This cup of coffee in the American Wing Cafe.  Central Park is darkening outside the window to my right.
  5. The indeterminate, abstract music if these 75 or so people chatting and laughing in four or five – or more – different languages.

Many thanks,

Me

P.S.  The mother spooning carrot cake to her 7-year-old who won’t look up from his iPhone.
