Day Forty-two

  1. Cherry, without whom I don’t know if I would have survived high school.  And I mean that literally.  She’s on my mind tonight because she was just in town for the Freedom to Marry gala.
  2. Joe Biden, who spoke at the gala.  His speech was stirring and I’ve always admired him.
  3. The sale Pink was having yesterday, which helped me afford (to the extent I can afford anything) a new suit, which I really need to have on hand, precisely for events like last night.  It’s grey and fits and I love it, though I haven’t worn it out yet.  I came across it while I was looking for a tie to go with the new jacket I got last week for the gala.  I know I’m spending too much, but I feel like things like suits and jackets are important.
  4. Water.  I have access to clean water pretty much whenever I want it.  That fact alone makes me one of the most privileged people ever to have lived.
  5. The opportunity to have gone to the gala.  Aside from Biden the event itself was sorta dull – just a big cocktail party with no chairs – but it was fun to have Cherry here and to get dressed up and go across the street to Cipriani, where I’ve never been.  I met one of the plaintiffs in Obergefell v Hodges.

Many thanks,

Me
