Day Forty-nine

  1. You are with me, whether I can feel it or not.  “Footprints in the Sand” kinda thing.
  2. Emma’s joy at hailing a cab for the first time.  I let her pay, giving her a ten and telling her to tell the cab driver to keep the change.
  3. Her eagerness to learn the subways: how acutely she followed my instructions on how to refill a metro card, and then promptly spun around and taught Dad and Cherry how to do it.
  4. I have a capacity for empathy and I can feel pain experienced by someone else.  I probably overwork this muscle a little and end up projecting emotions on to people that they may not have, but generally speaking I’m grateful to have the capacity.
  5. Lasagna, which, along with several pizzas and a platter of spaghetti with garlic and oil, we shared on Monday night.  The intention was to go to the Empire State Building but we were all too tired.  No one wanted to admit it, we all just kept volunteering to stay back with Hudson.

Many thanks,

Me
