Day 52

  1. My new iPad Pro, with the keyboard and pencil. I’m using it right now. I remember once watching a guy at Tower Records buy a stack of CDs when I could barely afford one and wondering how that was even possible. And I feel guilty buying things like then when it would be completely impossible for Thomas. I spent more last weekend on theater, dinner, electronics than he does in a month, easily. The best I can do is at least to be grateful.
  2. Todd V. can’t make the meeting tonight and asked me to fill in for him as chair. It’s an honor to do service and I really mean it.
  3. Speaking of service, last night in the middle of a nor’easter, the speaker and chairperson showed up to have the meeting and Adam showed up to read the secretary’s break. The rest of us showed up. Just showing up is something.
  4. I spent the entire day – literally – fiddling with the iPad; setting it up, configuring it, downloading apps and configuring them. Somehow I have the freedom in my work to basically fritter away a day. How did that happen?
  5. Douglas Bailyn, my primary care doctor, who looked at my ear yesterday and seemed genuinely intrigued that it is the ear drum itself and not the ear canal that is infected. He prescribe amoxicillin and I should be fine in a day or two.

Many thanks,

Me
