- Donald Trump is now President and as terribly unhappy as I feel, I’m still standing.
- The Hayden Planetarium at The American Museum of Natural History. I went to the space show this afternoon – “Dark Universe” – and though my attention drifted in and out (mostly out) I found it peaceful and perspective-affirming. I did tear up a couple of times: in awe of what You have made and in sadness for what has happened to us. But AMNH is my church, as You know, and appreciated meeting up there this afternoon.
- Speaking of churches, I popped in to this place on may way to Lincoln Center so I could do my evening meditation. What a lovely thing that churches are simply open. There are two homeless men here with me: one sleeping (and snoring loudly); the other maybe praying, maybe sleeping, maybe sitting quietly just to be out of the rain.
- Greenday’s “American Idiot” which I’ve played all day.
- I am smart, I am educated, and I continue to read and learn. Those qualities and their value were passed on to me by my parents. Not everyone recognizes those as assets – anti-intellectualism is having its day, obviously – and I am grateful to be in the other side of that.
Many, many thanks,
Me
6. A bonus that I am grateful for the show: as much as I hate to admit it, there is something thrilling about being present for a crossroads in history.
