1. Robert Mueller who brought charges against 13 Russians for interfering in the 2016 election. Someone is trying to protect us.
2. Charlie, whom I just visited in at his Bronx nursing home. He’s barely there.
3. The ability to show up for him; to pay him a visit even though I really, really didn’t want to.
4. The racial diversity of Riverdale and the relative lack of chain stores: it feels the way parts of Manhattan used to.
5. The subway: a miraculous achievement always, but for today it gave the ability to visit Charlie and have some time to read and do crosswords on my way up.
