- Christmas Eve
- Watching the midnight mass from The Vatican at Mom’s in our pajamas.
- The kids loved their presents; Mary Kathryn was especially happy with her pink Chuck Taylors and jar of “100% Pure NYC Street Snow”. Stocking stuffers got more attention than some of the “big” gifts: the gyroscope; the Jacob’s ladder; miscellaneous light-up toys and puzzles). Lizzie: mermaid blanket; 100 Dresses from The Met; a book of fashion templates and a “draw your own”. Preston: GoPro camera; gyroscope; pocket microscope. Hudson: Hot Wheels and the Hot Wheels Mega Garage. Emma: a South American sweatshirt; book on making origami jewelry, along with paper (she didn’t seemed less thrilled than the others). And lots and lots of stocking stuffers from the Met and AMNH. Their joy was truly a joy and I get it about the gift of giving.
- Cherry’s traditional holiday meal: turkey and ham; sweet potato casserole; dressing with goblet gravy; string beans (cooked the southern way, with bacon fat); peach cobbler or banana pudding for dessert.
- The afternoon: running some last-minute errands with Amanda then going back to their place and wrapping presents (teaching Hudson how to wrap, showing him which way the tape should go and how to spell “Jim”, “Mary”, and “Santa”) while Dad and Christian watched the Falcons and Christian strummed snatches from “The Ode to Joy” on his guitar.
Many thanks and merry Christmas,
