Day One Hundred Thirty-nine

  1. This, my creaky childhood twin bed, where I grew.  I read a short story here today (Lucia Berlin, “Dr HA Moynihan”) the same I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory years ago.
  2. Mom’s compulsive letter-writing and journaling, which allowed me to peek into what was going on in 1978-1982.  I told her today: it was a greater part of my life than hers; which seemed surprising to her.
  3. The steak, rice and vegetable medley we cooked for dinner.  She showed me how to use the broiler.
  4. The navy jacket, blue Banana Republic tie, and GA Tech t-shirt I got for $10 total at the thrift store today.
  5. The Varsity.  Lunch:  a number 1 (chili dog) for each of us; one with fries, one with onion rings, two Diet Cokes and two fried pies (Apple and peach).

Many thanks,

Me
