Day Seventy-nine

  1. The stairwell at 40 Exchange with its unwashed floors and cracked plaster; bricks exposed by age and wear rather than design.
  2. An early Autumn day, cool and dry with brilliant sunshine.  In May this sort of day would be “warm”, but in September it’s “cool”.
  3. The work which continues to flow my way, as lazy and unmotivated as I may be.
  4. My electricity has never been turned off.  Even when I was completely unemployed and under-employed, even with Mom’s “poverty”, I’ve never had the power turned off.  I know several people for whom that was not the case.
  5. These bamboo shoots growing in the glass, rock-filled vase in my window.  Like work, they continue to grow with a bare minimum effort on my part.

Many thanks,

Me
