- 71 immigrants were found suffocated in the back of an abandoned truck in Austria. They were fleeing violence in Syria. Some people say that because things like this happen you must either not exist, at best, or that you are there and callous or hateful. I don’t believe that to be the case and think this is like a storm or earthquake, a natural consequence of our existence. You allow it to happen because it needs to happen. Or maybe the cynics are right and you don’t exist and I’m just making notes for the hell of it. In any case, my life is good.
- It’s day seventy-one and 71 people died there. I don’t know the significance of that if there is any, but it seemed worth noting.
- As annoying and boundary-pressing as some of Tyler’s lines of discussion my be, she does challenge me to look more deeply into myself.
- The gnocchi at Lupa, though now I have indigestion. Probably as much a by-product of the discussion of my perceived relationship avoidance as the sausage and fennel sauce.
- Wint-o-green Lifesavers, which are the perfect antacid.
Many thanks,
