Day Twenty-three

  1. The 19th floor Terrance has re-opened after being closed all last summer.  We’ll see if I’m still grateful for this in 10 years when I have skin cancer, but for now I am.
  2. The massive “Lords of Finance” sculptures that circle the 19th floor and look down on the streets.
  3. The nice sun chairs they have here.  Not just wire lawn chairs, but thickly cushioned loungers.
  4. The young married couples that populate the building.  I need to resist envy of their youth and bright futures and find gratitude that the world will go on, that children will be had and the gears of business will continue to turn.
  5. I am young.  It’s all relative.  I’ve lost most of my hair and what’s there is grey, and my knees ache and my joints pop, but I can walk a flight of stairs and wipe myself and, less or more dramatically, I have time to right the course.

Many thanks,

Me
